For the November Downtown Jacksonville Art Walk we will be displaying photographs from the series “Horizon”  by Cuban born photographer Kedgar Volta. Here is how Kedgar describes his series Horizon in his own words: This series captures a moment in the lives of children from a fishing community in Cuba. While all the children share a common reality, it’s uncertain where their futures will drift in the tides of Cuban life.

I was so happy when Emma’s mom called me to schedule Emma’s birthday pictures. She was my first ever newborn session and it’s a real pleasure to see how big and beautiful she has become! She is full of energy and it’s hard to follow her around 🙂

We started the session with casual clothes and a little lecture. She was super cute and really interested in the book but wasn’t sure about the chair part… she thought it was a little bit high for her by herself.

For the second outfit, Emma’s mom found the most beautiful swimsuit ever with the hat that matches! She was adorable. We didn’t want to have water because we thought it would be a little be cold and too much for her just before the cake. However, she still enjoyed being inside the bucket 🙂

For the smashing the cake part, she had a princess outfit that was pink and white. Her cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious (I really like the part of testing all those cake… hehehehe). She started by wondering what we wanted to do and wasn’t sure that she was really allowed to eat the cake with her hands but finally figure it out and enjoy it!

I love this pictures of Emma looking at herself as a baby! We had this picture of her in the studio and she was really interested at looking at herself 🙂

Renae & David’s wedding at Casa Marina, Jacksonville Beach was amazing. First, the weather was perfect. After a week of rain, we got a splendid blue sky Friday morning and it stayed all day! Second, Renae and her mom created one the most beautiful decoration have seen and it matched perfectly with the interior of Casa Marina.

I will leave it to Renae’s to give her version of their story:  We met through two of our mutual friends about 6 years ago. After we met, we were pretty much inseparable and fell in love not too long after that. We are two very different people, but yet we have many things in common…We learn from each other each and everyday as our love also grows for one another. We are best friends and I am beyond excited and honored to spend the rest of my life with him!

Now let’s see if David’s one is different: I was in the Navy stationed at Kings Bay, GA(submarine base). We met while I was still in the navy through mutual friends and have been together ever since! She has an amazing sense of humor and treats everyone with respect. Could not imagine spending my life with anyone else.

Here is a slideshow teaser of their day. Please show them love by commenting at the end of the post! Thanks.

Emilly and Victor’s TPC Sawgrass wedding was so beautiful! I love the purple decoration that they created in the reception room that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. I have to say that I am still impressed by how their son’s Liam was calm and smiling all day and night! I think he even finished later than us!!!

As usual I want to share their story! Here is Emily’s version:

Victor and I are both professional musicians. Shortly after I completed graduate school, I moved back home and met him working at a local music conservatory in Jacksonville. The first thing I noticed immediately about Victor was his passion for teaching and his patience with children. This was very attractive to me.
I also noticed that he couldn’t keep his eyes off of my… well.. “assets”. That being said.. I found myself being drawn to him as well. The more we got to know one another, the more I wanted to spend time with him.
We got to talking about the Nutcracker coming up at the symphony. I realized he had never seen it and I thought this was a crime. I was thinking…. “Who doesn’t want to see people dance around in tights! Who doesn’t want to see huge rats running around on stage.. In tights!” He must see it! So, I told him I had an extra ticket and that he should come.
I remember cleaning out my car that day because it was a disaster and thinking I hope he doesn’t come pick me up because my Dad is gonna embarrass me before he even says Hello! He will probably come outside in his boxers or something.. you don’t know my dad.
So, here comes Victor. In his Golden Chariot. Aka.. the car that he has to jump into his driver side window , btw…Mexican style.
I’m thinking.. “Phew.. Okay, my 92 Nissan looks like a porshe now!
So, he picks me up, we go to the concert. The pre gaming began with my nice drink and his manly drink. Personally, I think he was trying to show me a good time with his “Jack and all that”
Well it worked. We had a great time in fact. We laughed and talked about so much that we didn’t realize the time and we had to scurry along to the concert.
I walk inside, totally buzzed and of course the first person I see is my Dad! (He plays in the symphony)
Trying to sneak past him to our seats, we surely got the attention of much an older crowd. I’m sure they were thinking.. “get this riff raff outta here!”
We sat down, the curtain opened and we were enjoying the show. Throughout the scenes of the ballet I noticed Victor slowly but slyly creeping closer and closer. I could tell his little heart was racing (But he will never admit this due to his manly pride) As the night progressed, so did Victor’s hands.
Actually… I helped this situation …but gracefully, of course, by strategically placing my hand open in my chair.
Without seconds to spare, Victor went in for the kill.. but gently of course.
That moment was something I truly will never forget. I could tell that it meant a lot to both of us and it was the beginning of something very special.
Whenever I hold his hand to this day, I always remember how it felt.

And Victor’s one:

Emily and I are both musicians. We both worked together in a music conservatory in Jacksonville, Fl . After swooping her off her feet in a manner that was both fast and furious she couldn’t help but accept my offer to go to the symphony. She might tell the story a little different, but this is how I remember it.
Our first date took place at Jacoby Hall in Downtown Jax. We went to go watch a performance of the Nutcracker. Before entering the theater to watch the “Ball Buster” aka Nutcracker, we decided to have a few drinks to get things going. Emily ordered a chic Cranberry and Vodka while I put some extra hair on my chest with a straight Jack.
As we conversed, I began to fall in love with Emily’s beautiful little smile. I was making her laugh and smile relentlessly. You can say it was my Whiskey driven brilliance that gave that night the extra spark it needed.
Anyways, we closed our tab and ran off tip toeing and skipping to Jacoby Hall (we didn’t want to get our stylish outfits dirty on the puddles and other downtown filth) We finally entered back into the auditorium and grabbed our seats.
The show began, as did my wandering thoughts. What was I really here for? To watch the Sugar Plum fairy get down with her bad self ? Or to charm this lovely young lady who sat doe-eyed and unaware of the Big Bad Wolf who sat next to her. I can say that one of the most memorable moments of the night was when I decided to “make the move” and hold Emily’s gentle hand. Even until this day I remember how that felt. Her hand in mine. It fit just right. ;D

I was so happy when Erika contacted me for their family pictures in Miami Beach! I haven’t met yet their son, Benjamin, as they moved from Jacksonville to Canada before he was born. They were visiting Erika’s mother in Miami and we were traveling to Sarasota for a wedding the same week-end so it couldn’t have worked out better. We decided that the botanical garden would be a good location as Benjamin is a little bit too small to really enjoy the beach and it was really hot and humid. It turned out to be a perfect day for pictures and we even kept shooting inside while Benjamin was playing in his playground.

I met Erika while she was working at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville and I can even say that she is the person who made me start going to UNF. She helped me with all the papers between the English Language Program and UNF. It wasn’t easy and a very stressful situation for me but Erika was always here to help me and I cannot thank her enough for that.
