We had our first 2014 Bridal Show today and I want to take some time to continue the serie on how to make your booth. We have an orange square logo so it wouldn’t work with our walls. I first thought that we would paint the logo but after talking with friends I realized that painting would be difficult and time consuming for a result that may not be as good as I wanted. We are lucky to have an amazing relation with a great printing company here is Jacksonville and they offer to print the logo as sticker. The only tricky part is to pull off the paper and keep the letters straight 🙂Make your boothYou can see here how clean the result isBridal Show BoothBridal Show BoothMake your boothBridal Show BoothMake your boothWe finished the external walls with a white board that we bought in Home Depot and a big black sticker with only the name.Make your boothSorry for the bad cell phone pictures but I didn’t have time to use my main camera…

I am traveling back from an amazing 10 days with my family in Switzerland. It is the first time in 4 years that my husband and I have been able to spend the holidays in Switzerland in my family chalet in Villars-sur-Ollon in the Swiss Alps. I am so thankful for this time. It is really important to my sister and I because my father bought the chalet as a place where the family could be together. Sadly he died only one year after we got it and didn’t really had time to enjoy it. We decided to keep it and try to all meet there as much as we can. It is a beautiful place with an amazing view of the Alps. We can even see the “Dent du Midi” when the weather is nice.
While I was leaving in Switzerland I used to go to the chalet during Christmas and New Year breaks but also every week-end. I would drive there on Friday night and come back home (close to Geneva) on Sunday night. My nieces and nephew learnt how to ski there and I am proud to say that the oldest is now ski teacher with the Swiss Ski School of Villars during winter time 🙂
Switzerland didn’t have lots of snow in December and when we arrived and on the 25 we could still see grass where it should have been white… we got lucky and it started to snow on the following day. We didn’t get lots of snow but enough to snowboard and have fun in the ski resort. Villars is a nice ski resort where you can find all slopes’  levels from kids to black.
This year we were most of the time 9 persons at the table as my nieces boy-friends, Jonas and Arnaud, joined the family. I am really happy to have spend time with them and get to know them better. I am thankful for the joy and happiness they give to my nieces.
It is sometimes hard to live so far from my family but I know they know that I love them with all my heart. The fact that I am far doesn’t change anything to it. Each time we see each other we just keep talking like if we saw each other the previous day 🙂
Here is a picture of our Chalet. It’s name is “Linda”.

I decided to share how to make a cheese fondue because many people asked me and I thought that a step by step tutorial would be fun.

During our Holidays in Switzerland, Jonas proposed himself to cook a fondue for 9 persons. It is not an easy talk for so many people. I decided to follow with pictures 🙂 First you will need two caquelons (that’s the plate you cook the fondue in).

Caquelon

For 9 persons, you need 1800gr (we count 200 gr per person) of cheese  (half Vacherin, half Gruyere), 4 garlic gloves, 4 small spoons of Maizena, 4 small spoon of whisky, 8 dl of white wine

fromage, maizena, ail
and a lot of breadbaguette
First rub the garlic against the caquelon. Then cut the garlic in very small pieces that you will add to the cheese.Couper l
Put the white wine in the caquelon and warm it. While the wine is warming up, mix the whisky and the Maizena in a small plate and keep it.
When the wine starts to boil, add the cheese.Melanger la maizenaHow to cook a fondueMelanger la maizenaYou will need to mix the cheese all the time. You can’t stop. Small detail but very important… you need to use a wood spoon and create an “eight” shape while mixing. Do not ask why… just do it!How to make a fonduefarineCut the bread in advance because you need to start eating as soon as it’s ready. You can’t wait.baguetteWarm up the portable stove when the cheese starts to be creamy How to make a fonduebreadWhen the cheese is perfectly creamy, add the whisky-maizena mix and keep mixing few minutes. How to make a fondue Fondues
As soon as the fondue is on the table somebody needs to starts mixing with the bread. It’s important to keep moving the fondue. Take turn mixing and eating.
La fondueWhen it seems finish you still have the cheese that is stuck in the bottom. It’s delicious!!!La fin de la fondueWe know that there is different recipes to make a fondue. That’s ours and it was delicious! Do not hesitate to comment with your recipe!
Thank yo so Jonas for a wonderful evening and a delicious fondue!!!

Merry Christmas!!

I am so happy to spend spending Christmas with my family in Switzerland. It’s not something that we are able to do each year and it’s always such a joy. We have a family chalet in Villars-sur-Ollon in the Swiss Alps where we spend our Holidays.

We arrived yesterday night and we realized today that we didn’t have a Christmas tree. With my nieces, we decided that it would be fun to make our own tree and if the result was too bad we would run to try to buy one at the market. We started by looking through our Christmas decoration in the basement and found lots of pieces that put together creates the nicest tree ever! We are super proud of our own tree!!

Make your own treeRacletteWe had a raclette for dinner. It’s a perfect dish as you cook your own cheese and nobody has to spend hours in the kitchen. We also spend hours at the table 🙂

Champagne, caviar, foie grasFor appetizer, we had foie gras, caviar, and champagne!

Snow in Switzerland

They received some small guys that are supposed to be incredible in the snow. We had to try even if we still don’t have enough snow… Thankfully, it’s finally snowing tonight!

Kristina & Matthew’s wedding at the White Room in St Augustine was gorgeous! The weather was as perfect as it can be in December in Florida and the Christmas lights added some magic to the night. We were so happy to be part of this beautiful day! We love you guys!

Leave them a message as a love note in the comments 🙂

I love to add some personal touch to my blog so I wanted to share their proposal (described by Kristina in their website http://kristinaandmatthew13.ourwedding.com/view/6749691672992284/32026861)

It was a stressful time of year for me. I was a full time Master’s student, President of the Women in Business Society, a campus club, and studying 30-40 hours a week for the CPA exams. When I woke on Monday, April 2nd, 2012, the only thing on my mind was passing the section of the CPA exam I was taking that day (I later found out I did indeed pass!). After sitting through a grueling four hour CPA exam and another three hours of Master’s classes, I arrived at Matt’s apartment expecting to relax and grab dinner with some friends. To my surprise, when I opened the door, Matt has a surprise for me. He told me he had an Easter egg hunt planned for me. As Easter was the coming weekend, I did not suspect much. After finding several eggs filled with chocolate hidden around his apartment, Matt said the final egg was hidden the hardest, but had the best candy inside. I was excited for this “candy” and when I finally found the egg, I shook it (looking back-that was probably not the best idea). When I opened up the orange (my favorite color) egg, I found my beautiful ring stuck in silly putty! I will always remember that day!
