Marie Antoinette – Stylized photoshoots – was my One Spark project his year. And I couldn’t be more happy with the final result!! I want to thanks Brent Fine who convinced me to be a creator during One Spark; initially I thought about only being a venue. He pushed me to go ahead and I am really thankful for it. You can read more HERE about Severine Photography studio One Spark venue.

I wanted my project to be artistic and not commercial. I am wedding and portrait photographer so most of the time I shoot with my clients goals in mind. For my project, I wanted to have my own artistic goal in mind. I have a background in Art with a BFA and I wanted to go back to the creative process of photography.  Studying photo history I always admire the work of Gregory Crewdson and Sandy Skoglund. Both of them stage a scene for their picture. I decided that Marie-Antoinette would be my theme. The historical Marie-Antoinette and not the movie 🙂 Here is the link to her page on Wikipedia. Below you can see the pictures that I used for inspiration (found in Wikipedia)

my One Spark projectI set up a corner of the studio for the shoot and kept it during One Spark so the visitors could see the process. I don’t want to share yet pictures of the scene as I am trying to get the pictures published. I will create a new post with the pictures as soon as I can share them 🙂

The photoshoot happened on Tuesday before One Spark and I am so thankful for the team that came together for the shoot. John from Visual Power Cinema did the amazing behind the scene video that I showcased during One Spark. Kathy from Brooch the Possibilities did the gorgeous bouquet and the hair pieces.  Bonnie Maxam did an amazing job with the hair. April Diane make-up was beautiful! Betty Blake was gorgeous as Marie-Antoinette and I couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect model! t also had an amazing cake from Divine Indulgences. I also want to thank Lee Hamby Design, Sei Bella Image Consulting, Content Design group for helping me! I will showcase all of them separately in different posts 🙂

During One Spark, I showcased the set-up, the raw files of the shoot, the behind the scene video and some pictures that I printed the night before it all started 🙂

Now the result… because One Spark is also a competition to see whose project gets the more vote! I finished 12 out of 124 of the Art projects and 81 out of 650 projects (all categories included).  I couldn’t be happier with the results!!! However this result , as amazing as it is, is not what make me the happiest. What makes me jumping around of joy are the final images! I couldn’t have dreamt of more beautiful photographs! My vision came through and that’s a dream that comes true!!! I will soon share more photographs online but meanwhile come to Art Walk on May 7 from 5pm to 9pm to see my exhibit of “My vision of Marie-Antoinette”. I will showcase my final images!

XOXO

For the first time, I participated at One Spark and it was quite an adventure! First I want to personally thanks all the person who made it possible; I know you know who you are and I can’t say it enough: THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

If you don’t know One Spark, it’s a five days festival where creators, artists, entrepreneurs and innovators present their projects. There are more than 70 venues throughout downtown Jacksonville, Florida. This year I decided to be a venue (as my photography studio is located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville) but also a creator (click HERE to see the blog post about being a creator).

Let’s talk first about the venue part. When I registered to be a venue I figured out that my studio was big enough to show case 3 creators. Most of the creators only needs a table or two to showcase their work so space would’t be an issue. I also thought that having 3 different projects would help to get the crowd upstairs of the Jacksonville Bank Building. My studio is located on the 8th floor so I knew that we would have to work to have people coming up. Station4 did an amazing job to advertise us and I can’t thank them enough for their help. The two creators I chose for the studio were uConnectHome and Pink@Heart. The third one was my own “Marie Antoinette” stylized photoshoot project but let me come back to that in another post; HERE is the link to the post.

To give you an idea One Spark had more than 250000 visitors through the festival. We had a free Photo Booth set up in the studio and the pictures went directly on Facebook so people could tag and share the pictures. We took 3753 pictures!!!!! We can say for sure that we had more than 2500 persons coming and visit the studio. It was a huge success!! You can see the pictures HERE.

Here is a short video to show you how busy we were 🙂

And a Photo Booth picture of the team who closed on Sunday! We were dead tired!!

I am so happy to have been part of Brittany & Eric’s wedding! They are so beautiful inside and outside that it was an honor for me to be their wedding photographer. I met them because they were the winner of the Money Pages Ultimate Giveaway and I couldn’t be more happy with the public choice! You can read more of their story HERE and also listen to their interview on Valentine’s day HERE.

Their wedding in Ponte Vedra started with the ceremony at Ruth’s Chris. The elegant interior design and the view on the lake made an ideal location for the beautiful ceremony. The stairs and the balcony were perfect for the formal pictures and we couldn’t dream about a better weather 🙂

If you are looking for venue for a large wedding; don’t hesitate Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is the one! Brittany & Eric had more than 100 guests and they still had enough space to have a large dance floor, a cocktail area and room to move around. I also really love the stage for the live band!!!! Cloud 9 was amazing; they put so much ambiance! People were dancing all night!!

Severine was a pleasure to work with from the very beginning! She is prompt at returning e-mails and phone calls, reliable, and demonstrates amazing photography skills. When initially meeting with her at her swanky downtown office my husband and I knew we had chosen the right photographer for the job. Her work displayed around her studio is beautiful! She sat down with us and gave us a template to work from regarding our wedding day and schedule. She covered all her basis was extremely thorough. Severine captured all of the details from our wedding day beautifully and arranged the photos by category for us to view and print. She even posted a few the day after our wedding to give us a sneak peek along with a picture video sneak peek set to music! I would recommend her time and again!ReplyCancel

It’s hard to find the best Jacksonville videographer for your wedding, which is why I’m excited to tell you about Visual Power Cinema, a team of cinematographers that specializes in weddings. We’ve all been forced to sit through our friends’ five-hour-long wedding videos, right? I love the unique spin Visual Power Cinema gives to their final product. Rather than producing the same epically long string of footage that every other Jacksonville videographer does, Visual Power Cinema creates a TV-show version of your wedding, taking the best parts of your wedding day and shifting them around so you can relive the best parts in an emotional way.

Jacksonville videographer Visual Power Cinema

John, co-owner of Visual Power Cinema, said, “We believe in being unobtrusive and use cinematic techniques from Hollywood. We are not your mother’s wedding videographers.” John and his wife, Angel, who film weddings as a team, are exceptional at shooting live events, and combined with their love of storytelling, have found that shooting weddings is the perfect fit for them.

I first met John during a Jacksonville bridal show, where we were both official vendors for the bridal show, working the runway. Later, John was the Jacksonville videographer chosen to participate in a real wedding workshop I attended, and I was very impressed by how well he worked around all of the photographers present, especially because most videographers are always jumping in front of my lens during a wedding and getting in the way… not to mention that none of the other Jacksonville videographers I’ve worked with are as kind as John and Angel.

Visual Power Cinema provides exceptional videos to their wedding clients, They are high-quality, interesting, and like watching a short movie of the wedding day! John and Angel even offer same-day edits to their clients, where they shoot and edit a teaser video that can be played at the your wedding reception! (Can you believe that?)

I can’t wait to work with John, Angel, and the Visual Power Cinema team in the future, and recommend them highly as you search for a Jacksonville videographer for your wedding. You can visit them on the web here, and to inquire about booking them for your wedding, contact Angel by phone at (904) 465-2151 or email at angel@visualpowercinema.com.
